Explain the changed task, not the release-note list
Choose one audience and the task that changes for them. A useful release explainer shows the earlier path, the updated path, the first action to take, and where the viewer can find the detailed current notes.
| Release-note item | Turn it into this viewer question |
|---|---|
| New capability | What new outcome can this role reach, and what starts it? |
| Changed workflow | Which step changes, what stays the same, and what should happen next? |
| Deprecation | Who must act, by when, and which maintained guidance replaces the old route? |
| Fix or limitation | Which condition is resolved or remains, and where is the detailed status? |

Keep the release trustworthy
Do not turn every bullet into a scene. Group changes that support the same task. State the version and date when they matter, and keep implementation detail, compatibility matrices, and complete limitations in the maintained release notes.
The customer first-outcome case shows how a product guide can focus on a visible next step. When the current release notes and audience are ready, start from product documentation or a customer education source.
