Start with the decision, not the report order
Use a report-to-explainer video when people need shared context before a decision, review, or discussion. Pick the one movement, comparison, or question that changes what the audience should consider next.
A five-part report narrative
- Question: What decision or interpretation needs context?
- Baseline: What was true before the change or comparison?
- Evidence: Which one chart, table, or source finding matters first?
- Meaning: What does the evidence support, and what does it not establish?
- Next action: What should the viewer inspect, decide, or discuss next?
Keep these details in the report
- Full figures, notes, definitions, and calculation method
- Report period, ownership, and version
- Assumptions, exceptions, and complete evidence
- Any statement that requires formal financial, legal, medical, or technical review
Before sharing
Ask the report owner to check figures, dates, definitions, and interpretation against the current source. A good video opens the discussion; it does not become the only record people rely on.
For an evidence-led reporting example, see the Indoor Air Sensor Study Summary. Then prepare a document-to-video source or an Excel-based explanation.
