Start with one task, not the entire deck
Choose the part of the PowerPoint presentation that supports one repeatable job: a first-week handoff, a quality check, a product explanation, or a decision that changes the next action. The source deck can still contain the broader background.
A five-beat training outline
- Moment: When should the learner use this guidance?
- Outcome: What should be true when the task is complete?
- Checks: What must be seen or confirmed before continuing?
- Decision or exception: What changes the normal route?
- Handoff: Who owns the next action, and where is the current source?
Prepare the deck before generating
- Mark the slides that define the task, not every supporting slide.
- Identify terms, warnings, numbers, and conditions that must remain exact.
- Add a clear audience and success condition to the brief.
- Keep the current PowerPoint file or policy available for detailed reference and future updates.
A useful test before sharing
Watch without the presenter. Can a new viewer recognise the trigger, the critical check, the normal path, and the handoff? If not, make those decisions visible before adding more background.
See the Packaging Line Changeover case for a focused operational sequence, or use the PPT storyboard template before creating from a PPT.
