Start with the chapter that changes an action
Do not try to narrate an entire Word document. Choose the section that helps a defined viewer make a decision, complete a procedure, understand a mechanism, or prepare a handoff. The document remains the complete reference for wording, specifications, warnings, and updates.
| Source pattern | Visual job | Keep in the Word document |
|---|---|---|
| Procedure with ordered steps | Show the order, checks, and stop conditions | Full exception handling and controlled wording |
| Technical brief with a system relationship | Connect components, inputs, and outcomes | Detailed requirements and versioned terminology |
| Report with a recommendation | Make the evidence-to-decision path visible | Complete figures, assumptions, and appendices |
| Manual section for a recurring task | Show the physical or operational sequence | Safety warnings, specifications, and latest revision |

Review the source before the video
Headings often reveal a document's structure, but not its viewer path. Combine paragraphs that answer the same question. Split dense paragraphs when they contain more than one decision. If a warning or specification must be read word-for-word, keep it in the document and use the video to explain when it matters.
See the developer architecture case for a source-led system explanation, or the water-filter guide case for a focused manual workflow. When the source is ready, start from a Word document.
