Updating Skills

See when to reconnect or reload Skills if they stop working.

Updating Skills

When Skills stop working, or when you change keys or environments, reconnecting or reloading usually fixes it.

When You Should Update

  • the agent used to work, but generation no longer works
  • you reset your API key
  • you changed agent platforms or local environments
  • the agent no longer understands Explainer Video, Slides, Image, or Interactive Lessons correctly

Quick Check

You can ask:

Are you connected to KPainter now? What types of content can you create?

Then add:

If I only say “make an explainer video,” what do you do first? If I want illustrated or vector animation, how should I say that?

Update Options

Reconnect the account and key

If you changed accounts, reset the key, or keep seeing authentication failures, go back to the API Key page and reconnect.

Reload skill.md

If you use the direct skill-file flow, rereading the latest skill.md is usually the fastest fix.

Reinstall the local skill

If you use local installation, updating usually means reinstalling or reloading the local skill.

Try Again After Updating

As soon as the update is done, try a simple request again:

  • make an explainer video around 30 seconds
  • make a slide-based explainer video that explains MCP step by step
  • create an MCP introduction slide deck

Tips

  • if the default knowledge-video behavior feels wrong, first confirm the agent reread the latest skill
  • if illustrated or vector animation does not work, say those words more explicitly
  • if it looks like a key problem, check the API key status on the main site first
